Original Retro Rooney Shirts

A selection of original, vintage Wayne Rooney football shirts including classic home and away kits worn by the English legend throughout his career. Authentic and iconic old Rooney shirts and kits from his playing days at Manchester United and England.

In his early career, Wayne Rooney made defenders' blood run cold, his unflinching, relentless attitude perfectly augmenting the magic in his Total 90s. He was an instinctively brilliant footballer, one fuelled by aggression and conviction. From the outset of his playing days with boyhood club Everton, his dynamite playing style simply demanded attention.

Sir Alex Ferguson saw a teenager with the world at his feet and signed him at the first opportunity. Such was Rooney's impact at Goodison Park that Everton chairman Bill Kenwright wept as the transfer was arranged. "They're stealing our boy, they’re stealing our boy" he mourned. A touch melodramatic, perhaps, but it summed up just how special the young Wayne Rooney was.

On his Manchester United debut, he scored a hat-trick of goals from outside the box against Fenerbahçe in the Champions League. It was a feat made all the remarkable considering that his rival for the centre forward position at United, Ruud van Nistelrooy, scored 150 goals for the club and just one was from outside the area.

By the end of his time with the club, Rooney had struck 253 times for United, surpassing Bobby Charlton's goalscoring record in his final season. Though there were no trophies as part of England’s so-called “golden generation,” Rooney finished as his country’s all-time top-scorer too.

His goals carried United to five Premier League titles, including three in a row between 2007 and 2009. There were three League Cup, one FA Cup and one Europa League triumphs too, but the jewel in the crown was the Champions League in 2008. This was one of the most opulent periods in the club's history, and the success was driven by Wayne Rooney.

Towards the end of his days at Old Trafford, the goals stopped flowing quite as freely, reflecting a positional change and the fact that as the years rolled on Rooney had become a much more thoughtful player. He dropped back a few yards, learned to conduct play as much as spearhead it. But he still maintained that raw aggressive streak which so endeared him to Manchester United fans.

Throughout Rooney’s career he’s worn some classic kits. Check out our range of Rooney shirts above.
